Off Premise Catering

What is off premise catering at Planterra?

A question we often receive from our couples is: Do you have a kitchen?

And the answer is no . . . and yes.

At Planterra all of the food for your event will be prepared freshly onsite via a mobile kitchen.  Think of the concept of a large-scale gourmet food truck.

For each of our events, the chef arrives at Planterra with a mobile kitchen, culinary staff, wait staff and food service and leaves again at the end of the evening  leaving the space as though an event never happened. . . sort of like our own version of culinary fairies.

You and your guests will not be aware of what is going on behind the scenes, which is the beauty of how well our catering partner has perfected this process.

Does Off-Premise Catering Cost More?

This very unique way of preparing and presenting events often comes at a higher cost than banquet halls, partially because of the increased labor of creating the mobile kitchen, but primarily via the cost of food service rentals.  All platters, china, flatware and glassware are rented for each event, averaging about $20-$25 per person depending on the menu.

All of our menu pricing is inclusive of food, culinary staff, service staff, mobile kitchen set-up and food service rentals.

Does this restrict my menu?

With the exception of a limited selection of items/presentation that we know do not lend itself to the culinary experience at Planterra, the menu presentations via off-premise catering are of the highest quality and we are delighted to offer fresh, seasonal, and locally inspired full-service menu.

In fact, because each events’ menu is specific it allows for a higher level of customization when it comes to menu selection.

You will, however, need to have your guests pre-select their entrees, as we are unable to allow for them to make entrée choices on the night of your event.

It is also critical to provide the Planterra team any and all special dietary needs and requests in advance of the event.  We are delighted to accommodate special requests and are able to do so as long as the information is received when you provide your final catering numbers 14 days before your event.

Additionally, because every item is brought in specifically for your event, no assumptions can be made that an item will be available as it may at a banquet hall or restaurant.  For example, even if none of your guests request a vegetarian entrée, we highly recommend ordering a few extra vegetarian meals in case a guests’ dietary needs have changed or they did not let you know in advance of their needs.
