Tanith Belbin & Charlie White's Garden Wedding at Planterra
This past weekend was a special day for us here at the Conservatory. Planterra hosted Olympic ice dancers, Tanith Belbin and Charlie White, along with their family and friends in what the Detroit Free Press called, “Ice Dancing's version of a Royal Wedding.” The bride and groom are so charming and we had a wonderful time working with them.
Tanith walked down an aisle designed as a garden pathway of ferns, ivies and mosses enhanced with candle-lit lanterns and white and champagne rose petals. She met her groom beneath a birch and white floral arbor to exchange their vows with music playing from Ivybrooke Strings. Planterra created Tanith's bouquet in white, champagne and sage with chrysanthemums, English roses, seeded eucalyptus, hanging amaranthus and silver brunia berries wrapped in an ivory satin ribbon. Tanith's stunning ivory A-Line gown was from the Gown Shop in Ann Arbor. The dress by Modern Trousseau features a sweetheart neckline and pink ombré skirt.
After the intimate ceremony, amidst the Conservatory’s lush botanicals, guests enjoyed cocktails and tray passed hors d’oueuvres including Szechwan Marinated Pork Donuts with Grilled Apple and Sage, Day Boat Scallops with Maple Wood Bacon and spicy Vegetable Samosas with Tamarind Sauce. Dinner was a Fire Roasted Vegetable Salad and Duet of Filet Mignon and Shrimp Cremosi with Potato Galette and Sautéed Spinach. The wedding cake, created by Ann Arbor’s Sweet Heather Anne, was a classic, four-layer vanilla cake with raspberry curd and vanilla buttercream decorated with fresh flowers. Guests danced the night away under Planterra Conservatory's glass ceiling to music by one of Star Trax Events DJ's. Tanith and Charlie were prepared to keep their wedding party comfortable with a basket of pashminas and flip-flops on hand.
David DiVincenzo describes the look he designed with Tanith and Charlie as, “A natural interpretation of classic elegance and effortless beauty.” The floral included white orchids, Italian ruscus and willow accented with displays of candles and touches of aged mercury glass. The room design included crisp ivory linens with mahogany garden chairs and an abundance of candles and white café lights.
It was an absolutely lovely event and we are thrilled that we got to be a part of such special day. Thank you Tanith and Charlie!
