Summer Wedding Trends
Now that we are hosting summer weddings we’ve got a keen interest in the wedding trends for Summer 2016. Here are some of the things that should be “hot” this summer.
Interesting textiles. Using interesting linens and rugs in your decor is a fresh and colorful was to distinguish your event. And summer is the perfect time to use them as they tend to be a little bit more informal than traditional linens offering a relaxed, bohemian vibe. We love the textures and bold, rich colors. Use rugs to define spaces such as the aisle or entry. Tribal blankets and fabrics make interesting tableclothes, napkins and runners. Small details like tassels, fringe and ribbons can add subtle textures as well.
Dessert Options. There seems to be a trend away from the classic wedding cake and towards different dessert options. We are seeing homemade pie stations, specialty brownie tables, assorted petit pastries… and Planterra’s Hot Fudge Cream Puff and Vernor’s Float Station is enticing many of our brides. Brides and grooms are thinking outside the (cake) box and having alot of fun with their desserts these days. The display of these dessert is also becoming a key decor factor.
Shades of blue. This may be due in part to Pantone’s Co-Color of the Year, Serenity, but we are seeing alot of blue for the summer season. Blue in all shades, whether it’s Serenity’s soft, pale blue, a medium Mediterrean or a rich navy. Blue works for summertime.
Floral and Botanical Invitations. This trend is something near and dear to our hearts since we really do love botanical imagery. The trend can translate into many aesthetics. Floral and botanical images can be impressionistic, realistic and even boldly graphic. The Wedding Paper Divas have some really lovely options.
Lots of Lights. When planning decor a lot of attention is now being paid to the lighting and rightfully so. Lighting can do wonders for setting the mood of an event. So in your planning don’t forget candles, cafe lighting, white twinkle lights, uplights, even chandeliers.
