Sally and Sandy grew up together not far from the Planterra Conservatory and although they now live in California coming home to Michigan to have their spring wedding made perfect sense. We were so pleased they choose us as their venue. We love working with out-of-state couples. Photographer, Melissa Squires of Girl in Love captured the day beautifully and we truly enjoyed working her and her work is stunning. The wedding we planned with Sally and Sandy had a definite Cali vibe. It was a laidback, hip and happy affair and the humor and charm of the couple showed through on their special day. The floral they chose was loose and natural and there was plenty of natural sunlight streaming into the Conservatory. Sally’s and her bridesmaids’ bouquets were stunning. They included white anemone, purple ranunculus, lavender stock, bupleurum, honey myrtle and asparagus fern. They were tied with ivory satin ribbon and accented with bark wire for a rustic touch. Sally’s look was a touch bohemian. She wore her hair in long, loose curls with a crown of fresh white floral, ivory hypericum and greens. She wore a flowing gown and underneath it she wore a pair of sparkling, gold-sequined Converse hi-tops. Sandy started the day dapper in his suit and purple tie, but finished the evening in a tuxedo t-shirt – so fun! The guests had a wonderful time. They enjoyed two signature cocktails – a Mint Bourbon Smash and Stoli Doli – and danced the night away under the twinkling white lights of the Conservatory trees.
