Planterra Loves: Why Winter Weddings are Amazing!

Better fashions

Winter is the season for rich and luxurious fabrics and layering.   This is the season where you and your guests can have fun with velvet, furs and tweeds.   Your photography will look more glamorous with guests dressed in fabrics that are less reflective and more likely to cover-up unflattering angles.

More convenient for your guests.

Selecting a date in the winter usually has fewer conflicts on your guests’ schedules; summer is the peak season for vacations and spring/fall are peak times for business travel and social obligations.  Winter is the perfect time to brighten-up the season with a joyous occasion.

You’ll have your pick of vendors.

As winter is typically considered “off-season” for weddings, you will find many wedding vendors – planners, photographers, DJ’s, musicians, etc. – will have more availability.  You can choose the people you want to work with on your special day not just someone that is available.

You won’t have to worry about rain or sunshine.

In the winter you know it will be cold outside so you and your guests can focus on what’s going on inside.  You won’t be checking the weather forecasts to see if it will be sunny or rainy!

The lighting is fantastic

Since it gets dark early you will not have to worry about transitioning light.  Candlelight, fire light, café lights and little white twinkle lights will have huge impact on your décor and ambience.  Winter lighting is so romantic.

You can make the most of gorgeous winter details.

Think roaring fires, fur stoles, plaid wool blankets, the scent of sprigs of evergreen on each guest’s plate, a hot chocolate bar to tempt your guests, beautiful winter florals…  Do you need us to keep going?

And don’t forget after the wedding, you can escape the cold for the warmth of a tropical island honeymoon.
